Taylor's brother Reid will be joining us when his school schedule permits, with the two Buckley boys adding harmony fiddles to our delight.
We are excited to announce that on Saturday, January 24, 2009 we will be opening for the legendary Ralph Stanley at 8pm at Wellin Hall on the Hamilton College Campus, in Clinton, NY. Earlier that afternoon we will be the "demonstration band" for a workshop on Ralph, the music of the Stanley Brothers, and their influence on bluegrass, presented by Lydia Hamessley, professor of music at Hamilton College. The workshop will be at 3pm, hosted by the Kirkland Art Center, East Park Row, in Clinton.
After much discussion we have decided to go out on a limb and expand theTug Hill Festival to a three-day event. The dates for 2009 are June 19,20, & 21. Audie Blaylock and Redline will be back by popular demand. We are also excited to announce that Michael Cleveland and the Flamekeeper Band will also be there. Keep those dates in mind for a great weekend of music. www.tughillbluegrass.com
Thanks to our good friends Tom Hosmer and Reid Buckley for filling in with us on fiddle this year while Taylor was away on Doctor business.
We are happy to announce our newest band member is Justin Lambert, son of Ted, stepping in to fill the acoustic bass spot formerly held down by Don Anderson. With the addition of Justin, we have significantly lowered the average age of the band, and we look forward to Justin's steady rhythm and youthful energy and enthusiasm.
As some of you regular followers of the band may have noticed, Lost Time cut back on performing schedule through the summer of 2007. This was due in part to the impending move of our friend, chief songwriter, vocalist, bass player, and founding member, Don Anderson. Don and his wife Mary are now settled in their new home in East Tennessee and experiencing "bluegrass overload" with all of the music goings-on in that area. We are saddened to lose such a talented musician as a member of the band, but even more so we will miss seeing Don and Mary on a regular basis. One of the best things about this band has always been the true friendship among us all that has made playing together so enjoyable.
Before Don left we went into the studio to record Ted's latest CD, "Family Gospel Favoites." Ted produced and co-engineered this recording with Marty Peters. The CD features Ted, Perry, Don, John & Taylor, with special guest Bob Farmer. Ted has always wanted to record an all-gospel album, and the time was right. We recorded mostly "live," with the exception of a few triple fiddle and harmony overdubs. It comes with mistakes and all, as a true representation of our live sound. The CD is available at our live shows, along with our other products, "It's About Time," Ted's "Bluegrass Memories," and Taylor's "Big Green Field."
